Managing SIS and SIF Decommissioning
While IEC 61511 devotes a separate clause to SIS Decommissioning, which highlights particular requirements for this activity, following the approach defined for “Modifications” will normally satisfy all those requirements – and has the main benefit that this avoids the need to set up a different set of procedures just for Decommissioning.
Note - that “Decommissioning” includes removal of a single SIF from a SIS, it isn’t restricted to Decommissioning of the entire process, though that too would be in scope.
What =Method can do for you
- At =Method, we’d treat SIS or SIF Decommissioning as if it were a modification.
- =Method consultants create FSA 1 - 5 for clients across the UK in process industries.
