A project to author SRS for x2 Safety Instrumented Functions for a chemical project.

A SIL Verification exercise to confirm the compliance of x2 Safety Instrumented Functions for a chemical project. Reviewing the compliance of the SIF components, checking that the correct hardware fault tolerance had been selected and generating the PFD calculations.

FSA 3 on paint manufacturing site storage tank overfill protection. Incorporated FSA 1 and FSA 2.

Project to carry out a Stage 4 Functional Safety Assessment (FSA 4), as per IEC 61511, using a combination of CASS derived and =Method’s own checklists. The site has approximately 50 SIFs. The SIFs for the continuous plant and exothermal processes will be reviewed in this FSA 4. The SIS is part of a Delta V integrated control and safety system.

Project to carry out Proof Tests on a Spray Dryer.

Project to conduct a Stage 3 Functional Safety Assessment (FSA 3) and an additional “Informal Review” on the controls system installation for a chemical reactor, following earlier assessments of similar reactors. The control system upgrades were to replace what was previously a predominantly manual operation.

Project to review a client's Functional Safety Specification for Process Operations & Machinery, which detailed basic BPCS and SIS design requirements for reactors with processes that have potentially exothermic reactions.

Project to investigate client's approach to HAZOP, LOPA and PFD Calculation where multiple SIFs protect a single hazard. Confirm whether approach CCF used is in line with current best practice.

A DSEAR review of a new chemical process, which included risk assessment and hazardous area classification of a variety of activities and processes - including solvent storage, distillation and recovery, powder storage and transfer, mixing, vacuum drying and gas washing.

A Stage 4 Functional Safety Assessment for a speciality chemicals client.

Providing a scribe for a Hazard and Operability Study for a chemical industry client.

Prior to delivery of a Hazard and Operability Study for a chemical industry client, study participants attended a 1-day training course to develop an understanding of the study technique. The study report handed over the client in draft form.
